About us

YT Thumb

At Moondance Cancer Initiative we find, fund & fuel brilliant people & brave ideas to make Wales a world leader in cancer survival.

Our aim is to accelerate significant and sustained improvement in cancer survival outcomes over the next 10 to 15 years.

However you’re working to improve cancer services, there are different ways to do it with us.

Cancer remains the leading cause of mortality in Wales, responsible for around 25% of all deaths. Every year, around 19,500 people are diagnosed with the disease and there are more than 9,000 cancer-related deaths. Outcomes vary across the country, with cancer mortality 44% higher in the most deprived areas. If current trends continue without significant intervention, cancer incidence is projected to rise by approximately 20% by 2033/34 compared to 2019 levels. Despite progress, Wales’ cancer outcomes continue to lag behind other nations.

At Moondance Cancer Initiative, we’re here to help change that — by finding, funding and fuelling work that can help improve outcomes for everyone.

Established in 2019, we're a  philanthropically funded not-for-profit company. Funding is provided by the Moondance Foundation.
